Invalid File Format – Drag And Drop Functionality Requires Supported Format

When trying to drag and drop an image into Quickmap, you may get this error:

Invalid File Format

Drag and Drop functionality requires the image to be a supported format.

This is because the image file is not a format that contains location data, so Quickmap doesn’t know where to place the image file on the map. ECW is an example of a file format that is supported.

Addendum: If you are trying to drag and drop an unsupported image format onto Quickmap, such as a JPEG file, you can open the JPEG in Microsoft Paint and then copy/paste it into Quickmap.

Note: You must ensure that the pasted image isn’t large (say over 1,000 pixels) otherwise it’ll be distorted. First shrink the image in paint, then paste it into Quickmap. Ensure that you do not alter the aspect ratio when resizing images.
